Patient-reported outcome measures used in studies of palliative surgery in cancer care: a scoping review
Abstract
Palliative surgery aims to alleviate symptoms and enhance health-related quality of life (HRQL) for patients with incurable cancer. Standardized patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are needed to assess effects of interventions, including HRQL from patient perspectives. A previously published systematic review (Wong et al., 2025) identified studies of palliative cancer surgery; the present study is a secondary scoping review to identify and characterize patient-reported measures of HRQL in these studies.
