Ten-year survival after portal vein arterialization in liver transplantation

Yuan Cheng, Yongbiao Chen, Yi Jiang, Xiaojin Zhang

Abstract

Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) remains a technical difficulty for orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) due to the need of complex vascular reconstruction to maintain portal blood flow into the allograft (1). Direct arterialization of the donor portal vein (PV) is a relatively simple method of improving the portal inflow, though there is little information regarding long-term results after this procedure (2-4).
